The music I like appears very much as a soundtrack to my life. Songs I listen to regularly can be superimposed onto montages of aspects of my day-to-day existence. There are times, however, when I get bored of music.

These are bad times, as the great film of life has no soundtrack purely because I became bored of my iTunes collection. Discovering new bands is therefore a great (and necessary) hobby of mine, so here is my list of five new artists to watch out for.

5. Frankie and the Heartstrings

Here we have the first band of my five and the first of three that have decided to incorporate the ‘and’ in their name. British born Frankie and the Heartstrings have recently released their first album Hunger. The title track is a great example of the new generation of Britpop with catchy lyrics and lots of energy. They sound very much like a younger version of The Futureheads, but still need time to really mature in their sound.
